Who is this Old Sea Dog?

Welcome aboard! Deep Sea Dreams began over three years ago and has grown into one of the largest maritime T-shirt shops in the country—perhaps even the world—with over 300 designs “for those who went to sea or wished they had.” We’ve shipped thousands of shirts, decals, and other products, all printed through a top-tier print-on-demand partner.

In addition to online sales, we also handle bulk printing. Using high-quality full-color and single-color durable transfers—and our own professional heat presses—we can produce large orders efficiently. If you’re proud of your ship and crew, I can help you create a custom design your team will love, and provide shirts at roughly half the cost of typical online prices.

I come from a long Scandinavian seafaring line. My grandfather sailed from Finland and later became a Chief Mate in World War II. My father, of Norwegian heritage, served in WWII, post-war, and Vietnam. My twin brother and I both became Chief Engineers; he later joined the U.S. Coast Guard in Investigations and Analysis. My older brother served as a Navy Lt. JG, and other cousins worked both deck and engine.

My own maritime career spans more than 35 years. I sailed for nearly 25 years as a marine engineer—mostly as 1st Assistant and Chief Engineer—before moving on to a decade with Hamworthy out of Poole, U.K., specializing in advanced wastewater systems and project engineering. I’ve worked on everything from cargo ships to oil rigs to cruise liners, collecting a lifetime of stories and experiences that shaped the designs you’ll find here.

Most of my earlier work was done on deck plates, not behind a keyboard. Taking on graphic design, website building, and online marketing has been a whole new adventure—but one I’ve come to enjoy.

Inside this shop you’ll find hundreds of designs inspired by real maritime life. Some will make you laugh, some will spark memories, and others will honor the pride of a life spent at sea.

Creating these designs helps me stay connected to seafarers across the U.S. and around the world. Our images remind us where we’ve been—and give us something to wear that tells the story. And of course… some sea stories are still best kept among shipmates.

Thank you for stopping by, and enjoy the site.

Fair winds and following seas,
Keith Olsen
